HEALTH: Students have been assigned to small groups to research a focus area in Healthy Eating.  Follow the "Big Idea" and generate 2-3 inquiry questions to research on the topic. Tonight look for 2 potential websites. You will be given a few days to collaborate online.  Next week, students will be provided a copy of their online work to them independently design an informative poster. (The poster will be presented to the class later in the week)

SCIENCE: students have been assigned a research topic for our Electricity Unit. REFER to the Big Idea questions Grade 6 OUTLINE; student generated guiding questions to research and describe the transformation from raw form to electricity. Groups will reorganized from their expert group and be jigsawed into home groups later this week. Class time provided and at-home will be useful to support group members.

SOCIAL STUDIES: looking at continuity & change, cause & consequence in history.

WRITING: over the next two weeks, students will write their final draft of their mystery story, referring to feedback from author A.Misri and discussions during writers workshop Google Classroom Mystery Writing 

MATH: Data Management: Looking at ways to organize data in graphs that best represent information (mean, median, mode, range).

THE ARTS:

ePortfolios are a daily ongoing reflective entries :)

 Reflection:  Happy New Year 2016.  Please share your reflection on your learning experiences for the first four months of school and how they will impact the next six months. Watch the video "212 Degrees of Effort"; Open assignment in Google Classroom .

 PARENTS NOTE: 
* Extended French Forms were sent home before the holidays.  The due date is the end of the month. Please submit to the office as they are date-stamped.
** Over the next few weeks, flyers will be sent home from various middle schools as your child will transition from Grade 6 to Grade 7.  It is important that your child share this information with you so that you have the opportunity to visit schools, attend information nights and connect with the school that will best support your child's continued learning.

WRITING: this week we have the honour of hosting author Angela Misri, leading us through a Mystery Writers Workshop. Students have been assigned writing partners to co-write in-class (students can choose to add ideas/build on story at-home) Google Classroom Mystery Writing
***An introduction, approaching Clue #2 completed... tomorrow we approach Clue #3, leading to the climax and denouement. First draft to be completed by end of Thursday for author feedback to be received by Friday afternoon.
